One of the untold stories as 2015 draws to a close is potentially historic flood devastating riverside communities in Illinois, Missouri and points south. This photo, taken across the Mississippi River from St. Louis, Missouri in Venice, Illinois; shows the seemingly calm rivers of the extremely swollen Mississippi River as cranes and excavators move gravel in what is now the river.
If National Weather Service predictions hold true, the Mississippi River crest at St. Louis, MO will be the third highest ever recorded.
