I rarely, if ever, do an all-text post here because this is a photography blog showcasing great, timely and timeless photography from across Minnesota. However, I have to share my inspiration for this blog. If you didn't know it already, my job is heavily internet-related and I'm always on the lookout for great ideas and my general manager at work, I believe, pointed out a blog entitled The Big Picture a few months ago. It wasn't just the sheer size of the photos that sealed the deal for me, it was the stunning quality from the globe-trotting news agency photographers whose job it is to capture these images. Being an amateur photographer myself, this endeavor seemed logical.
I launched MinnPics in July as a test. If people came, I'd keep doing the project and after the initial four months of featuring what I deemed to be interesting and captivating photography from the Northstar state, this is at least a mild success. Don't worry, for the few who enjoy this twist on a photo blog it is here to stay -- at least for the short term.
Why, though, did I choose today -- four months after the launch -- to write a sort of introduction/explanation to this journey? I was inspired. This one photo describes my inspiration for this project. The photo makes you feel like you are there. Do you feel like you are a part of these photos?
An introduction
