Fall color in Minnesota

| Friday, September 26, 2014

Fall color is beginning to already peak in some corners of Minnesota while others remain as lush as green grass in May.

Taken in Myre-Big Island State Park near the southern Minnesota city of Albert Lea, MN, the fall color in this particular corner of the park is incredibly vibrant. What looks to me mostly Maple trees, the yellows and a few oranges are particularly plentiful.

Orange and red leaves - again courtesy of Maple trees - are lighting up selected areas of the north shore of Lake Superior near Grand Marais. The color is less blanketed due to the area's plentiful pine trees but still spectacular. Hurry to get "up north" as much of the area is at peak color or rapidly approaching that and a couple days of strong winds or rain could bring all of those vibrant leaves to the ground in quick order.
