Saying goodbye to another Minnesota summer

Summer in Minnesota has officially drawn to a close. This summer we saw record-setting floods in June, the Major League Baseball All Star Game played at Target Field in July, the Minnesota Vikings return to an outdoor stadium in August and the final day of the Minnesota State Fair in September which ended in record attendance. Of course there were plenty of other photo-worthy moments throughout the summer months and some of those captivating scenes are showcased below...

Taken on the final Saturday of the Minnesota State Fair, the crowds were thick as the 2014 edition of the great Minnesota get-together was blessed with pleasant weather and record-setting crowds.

The Interchange / Target Field Station; Minneapolis, MN

The photographer says: I couldn't let a trip to Target Field for a Twins game go by without attempting some light rail foaming, so, as the Brewers were dismantling our defense, I walked around and came across this view of the newly opened Target Field Station, which was dubbed "The Interchange" while being planned/built.

While currently the western terminus of both the Blue (Hiawatha) and Green (Central Corridor) Lines, both will eventually be extended here, with the Southwest Corridor pealing away to the left/center of the image, and the Bottineau Corridor veering to the right.

BNSF's Wayzata Sub, along with the Northstar commuter rail platform, run along the bottom of this photo, under the artificial ground.

Target Field blanketed in snow

The Minneapolis Skyline from Target Field during Twins Fest in January. A few weeks later and now much closer to the start of baseball season for the Minnesota Twins, the snow on the field has been removed and most of the snow in the stands melted in yesterday's short-lived heatwave.
